#1: Madhuri Dixit
The ‘Dhak-Dhak’ girl blew up the industry with her fantabulous acting, dance moves and smile, took a break from the industry after working for her blockbuster movie, Devdas in the year 2002. It was the time when dancing queen decided to elevate her personal life over the professional. Especially taking such a career-jolting step, when she was ruling the industry, accentuates decision’s toughness. However, to everyone’s surprise, ‘Dhak Dhak’ girl was back on screens to upsurge the tempo of heart beats faster than ever before. It was musical Aaja Nachle in 2007 which embossed her fame deeply in the world of Cinema.
After a five-year absence from the screen, any move was essential for the lady grace to leave a long lasting impression. Under such circumstantial pressure, film’s failure at the box-office could have affected her, but it was Madhuri’s performance that earned loads of praises and laurels, attaching sparkling feathers of success to fly ahead. Ultimately, this comeback made the way for hits like Dedh Ishqiya and Gulab Gang along with a show to judge- ‘Jhalak Dikhla Ja’.
Madhuri isn’t the exceptional, though; there were many women in the industry who amassed audacity residing in some corner of their heart to make a comeback. Females, in general, have seen their career ending after marriage. This vital institution which plays an equally significant role in both the genders’ turns partial to submerge a woman’s career into the swamp. However, a woman like Madhuri and many others to see have beautifully managed to hit the screen with same vigour leaving stereotypes stumped.
#2: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
The woman who defines ‘beauty’ took a leave for five years from the industry. It was her splendid movie ‘guzaarish’ in the year 2010 that engrossed viewers into her performance. However, lately, it became everyone’s guzaarish to see her back on silver screen. Hence in the year 2015 with full Jazba, she showed up resurgence with the movie titled ‘Jazba’.
#3: Kajol Devgn
The cute and bubbly Kajol still owns many hearts. She did her last movie before and after revival with the king of romance -Shah Rukh Khan. The most adorable pair on screen were seen together in the drama My Name Is Khan (2010) and then with her comeback performance in Dilwale (2015).
Along with them, even superstars like Sridevi, Rani Mukherjee, Tabu and Juhi Chawla charismatically stepped back in Bollywood. Fortunately, trend setters like Kareena Kapoor or Beyonce from the west are staging a new wave in media line. These ladies gracefully projected their baby bumps, setting unconventional fashion and beauty goals, hence leaving no space for the concept of ‘comeback’ to strengthen its root.
Moreover, it’s not just about ladies in this process of balancing personal and professional, after a point of time even heroes have left the battlefield to fight their personal obligations, yet revived with a stout performance.
#4: Vinod Khanna
The megastar was the success mantra for Directors of that time. He debuted with the movie, Man Ka Meet and never looked back after that. Until in 1982, at the peak of his film career, Khanna temporarily quit the film industry to follow his spiritual guru Osho Rajneesh. After a 5 year hiatus, he returned to the Hindi film industry giving two back to back hit films Insaaf and Satyamev Jayate.
#5: Randhir Kapoor
The one who radiantly carried and heightened the legacy of ‘Kapoor Family’ in Bollywood, responsibly extended loads of outstanding work to the industry. Some of his remarkable movies were – Ponga Pandit, Kasme Vade, and Henna. After an absence from films for nearly a decade, Kapoor made his comeback with his biggest commercial success, the ensemble comedy Housefull (2010) and followed it with its sequel (2012).
