WhatsApp has come up with a new tweak which will help user to free up their phone space. The new storage management feature, allows one to quickly identify as well as see the files which use much space in one’s phone and can easily delete the file.
This feature was seen online earlier this year in various updates; however, the company is now going to launch this feature worldwide in coming few days. This feature will help the user to identify bulky as well as reoccurring files which can be deleted through “storage usage” section which earlier used to only keep records of chats.
The new change however contain a dedicated bar which helps to view and clean all the media files that have been forwarded many times. It also allows us to identify the space used by the WhatsApp media as compared to other apps.
The redesigned storage management tool rolling out for WhatsApp users globally this week will also offer various cleanup suggestions.
How to use new feature?
Once this tool is rolled out in your phone, one can access the redesigned storage management tool on WhatsApp by going in Setting > Storage and data > Manage storage.
Previously, only chats were listed under the ‘Storage Usage’ section of WhatsApp through which users could free up some space on their phones. The new change, however, revamps that experience by rendering an all-new interface with a dedicated bar to show how much storage is being utilised by WhatsApp media content, besides other apps. There is also a dedicated option to view media files that are forwarded many times through the app. This helps to spot and clean up unnecessary forwarded files easily.
The redesigned storage management tool helps in sorting the files according to their sizes and also lists the file larger than 5 MB. It also helps to identify the chats that cover user more space and clean the same. The new feature also allows one to get the notification on top of their chats when the storage space is full so that the user can quickly clean up the storage using the tool.
