Pink – Amitabh Bachchan Makes Us Notice!

Every now and then, there is that one movie which makes us pause and reflect. It makes you want to question the society and its voices. Pink definitely looks like one of those movies.

An upcoming movie by Soojit Sircar, it stars the legendary actor, Amitabh Bachchan as a bipolar lawyer. The film also has Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari, and Andrea Taring as the three protagonists. The movie also has Angad Bedi as Rajveer where he and his friends, after drinking, try to molest Arora (Tapsee) and her friends.

The movie revolves around topics such as consensual sex, virginity, and self-defense during rape. As we all are aware, we often give a deaf ear to such topics and avoid having conversations about it altogether.

The movie’s shoot had begun on Women’s Day and rightly so, since women all over the world are victimized time and again.

The trailer begins with Amitabh Bachchan demanding answers to questions like “Are you a virgin?”, “How long have you been soliciting?”, and “What clear indication did you give that you are not interested in sex?” It is a part of the legal process to ask such personal questions during a rape trial, and it looks like Bachchan sir has hit the nail on the wall. The story then looks like, turns around with the women facing charges for assaulting the men who molested them.

The police go on to counter question the three girls and it gets from bad to worse. As is the case with cases of rape, the victim has to undergo a long and tedious process to get justice and it looks like it has been portrayed very well in the movie.

The trailer definitely looks promising because of the serious, intense, and much-needed information that all of us need to have about issues like rape and consensual sex. It is directed by the award-winning Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury and from the makers of films like Piku and Vicky Donor.

A must watch, at least from the trailers!
