Pakistani Woman Dies, Set Ablaze For Rejecting Marriage Proposal
Sonia Bibi, 20, Pakistani young woman, was admitted to the hospital past month, where she reported police that her ex-lover had doused her with petrol and set her alight after she turned down his proposal.
The rejected suitor set her ablaze for refusing his marriage proposal, 45 to 50% of her body had been burned in the attack, a doctor said.
Medical staff initially told she would recover, but a doctor in Nishtar hospital of Multan said infection was set in and she died in the early morning on Tuesday.
The incident took place in a distant village of Multan district in the central province of Punjab. Police have arrested the 24-year-old suspect. Sonia had told police that she had fallen out of love with Ahmed, and he had set her on fire after she refused to marry him, preliminary investigations suggests.
