How Crisis-Hit Year 2020 Became Boon For Apple

Even during Covid crisis, Apple has not disappointed its customer as it has come up with a range of products in almost all categories; from watches to phones to even air pods. The company has a great goodwill, giving it an edge in coming up with different plus latest technology for its users and even during the pandemic the company has maintained its ritual.

Apple kept up with it tagline — Think Different — even during an abnormal year.

It all started with March when the company launched the new iPad Pro, Magic Keyboard and MacBook Air. This was followed by the launch of iPhone SE one of the smallest iPhone ever made in April. The story doesn’t stop here; in May, Apple launched 13- inch MacBook Pro.

Now, except the MacBook Pro, these aren’t really product ‘variants’. The all-new iPad Pro got the LiDar scanner and an all-new camera system. Apart from being the smallest version, iPhone SE is also the most affordable iPhone Apple has made in a long time.

The next three months of the year were relatively low for the company as the only product to come of its stable was an iMac with Retina 5K display.

The most exciting month for iPhone user was along the corner. Every year the apple users await for the release of new iPhone models which are generally launched in September. However, this year the company gave its user hint in late June, that the company won’t be able to launch the product on time and might get delayed.

Nevertheless, to not disappoint its customer, the company did hold a virtual event in September for the two new iPads and two new Apple Watch. The iPad line up got an all-new design for the iPad Air whereas the entry-level iPad also got an upgrade. For the first time since its launch in 2015, Apple released two new models of the Apple Watch — Watch Series 6 and Watch SE. The Watch SE, as the name suggests, is a toned-down version of the premium Apple Watch Series 6 and costs relatively less.

In October, the company held an event for the launch of the latest iPhone latest models. This is the first time that Apple has launched four models at a time, which include iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max, which target different section of buying audience. Besides this a new smart speaker that is HomePod mini was also launched by the company in the month.

Now when we are in November, Apple is holding another event to reveal the new MacBook models which will be powered by its own processor.

So much in a year! When many companies just shut down because of the pandemic induced lockdown, which was followed by the global crisis. It seems that the year 2020 has brought a lot for Apple company as well as its users.

In an interview, Tim Cook, Chief Executive Officer of Apple, said that there are many more announcements scheduled in this year. It would be exhilarating to see what more the tech giant has for its users to offer.

In July — the company announced its financial results for the fiscal 2020 third quarter. The company posted quarterly revenue of 59.7 billion dollars, an increase of 11 per cent from the year-ago quarter, and quarterly earnings per weakened share of 2.58 dollars, up 18 per cent.

Indeed 2020 was a busy as well as a stable financial growth year for Apple — 14 launches– that is a lot for a hardware company to launch in a year that has been anything but normal. Last year Apple had made 13 launches, but with the current situation, and the back-to-back launches from the company came as a surprise to all.
