Delhi Cab Driver Killed In Accident, Police Constable Arrested

A 35-year-old cab driver died after his vehicle was hit by a car from behind. A Delhi Police constable allegedly drove the car that rammed into the victim’s Swift Dzire, killing him on the spot.

Both the cars were totalled in the accident.

The accident took place on the Barapullah flyover around 10.40 pm on Friday. The constable, Mohit Bhardwaj (35), was arrested on Saturday, the police said.

Bhardwaj is posted at the MT section in the New Delhi district and was driving home, allegedly in an inebriated state, when his Mahindra KUV 100 smashed into the cab. The cab driver, identified as Prempal Chand, died at the scene, they said.

The investigators found that Bhardwaj had finished his duty and had allegedly consumed alcohol in his car before leaving for home. A medical examination was also conducted on Bhardwaj.

A case of a road traffic accident has been registered, the police said.
