2018 has been an astonishing year for some, maybe for some a learning experience, but altogether we are standing on the brink of it, being pleased and excited for the new year. Being in each year feels like a new rollercoaster ride, altogether a new learning experience for each one of us, and at last, waiting for the new year and hoping it brings all good things to us.

January 2018
Starting with January:- Bitcoin (and other cryptocurrencies) underwent a fall from balance as the cryptocurrency enterprise knocked a peak in January 2018, has following lost more than $670 billion in the capital.
The enterprise has been on a constant decline throughout 2018, Bloomberg recently proclaimed Bitcoin’s worth is dropping below $5,000. But Experts associate some of the drops is due to Bitcoin having more sellers than buyers, though it could be the result of an abundance of reasons.
February 2018
February 24 – The death of legendary actress Sridevi Bollywood’s leading female superstar and Padma Shri awardee Sridevi, in Dubai at the age of 54 has moved the nation stumbling in shock and incredulity as the star breathed her last in the bathroom of her hotel room in Dubai, with the autopsy report citing ‘accidental drowning’ as the cause of death.
And as a tribute and sympathies were poured by fans, film stars, public celebrities and PM Modi.
March 2018
Karnataka became 2nd state in the country to expose its own flag as the Karnataka government uncovered the State flag known as nada dhwaja of yellow-white-red and the State design at the centre. for the state and if supported by the Centre, Karnataka will be the second State to have a flag after Jammu and Kashmir. The proposal will be now sent to the Union Home Ministry for its endorsement since a State has no powers to announce its own flag.
Also, An Indian origin engineer Vikas Sathaye, a Pune-born engineer, won an Oscars as he was a part of the team that won an Oscar for Science and Technology.
Sathaye and his team’s discovery — the Shotover K1 — has been acknowledged as an influential breakthrough in recording mid-air sequences and was applied in movies such as Dunkirk and Guardians of the Galaxy amongst others.
April 2018
April 10-11: Facebook founder testifies in Cambridge Analytica scandal as earlier in the year, whistle-blowers unveiled the private information of over 85 million Facebook users was sold to now-defunct political consulting and data analysis firm called Cambridge Analytica.
May 2018
May 8: Donald Trump backs out of the Iran nuclear deal. The U.S. president proclaimed the withdrawal of his country from the Iran nuclear deal, which is also called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. The move was reprimanded by politicians and experts alike, including his predecessor, Barack Obama, who called it a “serious mistake.”
May 10- American retail giant Walmart enclosed up to the acquisition of Flipkart in the world’s largest ever e-commerce deal so far. As Walmart paid $16 billion for around 77% stake in Bengaluru-based Flipkart. The deal is broadly supposed to shake up one of the most flourishing and exciting e-commerce markets the world over.
May 19: Prince Harry marries Meghan Markle an American actress at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor, England. The ceremony was accompanied by members of the royal family and dignitaries like former soccer champion David Beckham and his fashion designer wife Victoria Beckham, also saw the newly-wed couple bestowed with the title – Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
June 2018
July 12: The first-ever meeting between leaders of the United States and North Korea took place in the month of June 2018. The US president Donald J. Trump met with Kim Jong Un in Singapore. In the same meeting, Kim Jong Un agreed on denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula.
July 2018
July 25: Water was discovered on Mars as the researchers authenticated the possibility of a body of liquid water on the planet. The discovery was made by Marcus, a radar instrument on the European Space (ESA) Mars Express orbiter.
August 2018
August 8: Floods kill over 480, Heavy rains prompted extreme flooding in the South Indian state of Kerala, leaving over 480 people dead. This is acknowledged as the state’s worst such disaster in over a century.
September 2018
September 6: India decriminalizes homosexuality as subsequent over two decades of invading by activists and organizations, the Supreme Court of India decriminalized homosexual sex, which was earlier banned by a 160-year-old law that claimed the act was “against the order of nature.”
October 2018
While the #MeToo movement began in 2017 but overlooked news stories well into 2018. MeeToo began expanding renown in India with the increasing prevalence of the international movement and later inferred as a sharp momentum in October 2018 in the entertainment industry of Bollywood as when actress Tanushree Dutta accused Nana Patekar of sexual harassment to which following confessions started by various actress/ known figures.
Also, on Oct. 2 the murder of journalist Jamaal Khashoggi took place as in Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi inside the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul which came to spotlight after weeks of rejections by Saudi authorities. Khashoggi, a resident of Saudi Arabia, was significant to the country’s royal regime and the Saudi role in the Yemen War and the murder has had influential repercussions, particularly against the country’s powerful crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman, who the CIA believed was involved in its planning. The U.S. Senate relinquished a measure blaming the crown prince for the death, a move questioned by President Trump as he tries to maintain close U.S.-Saudi ties.
October 19: The tragic Amritsar Train Accident which killed 59 and injured at least 100 more during Dussehra celebrations as the crowd had gathered to watch celebrations for the Hindu festival of Dussehra and were standing on the tracks. To which Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh announced compensation of ₹5 lakh for the family of each of those killed and free treatment for the injured. The central government also announced a compensation of ₹2 lakh for the family of each of the dead and ₹50,000 for the injured. The state declared a day of mourning in honour of the victims.
October 19: Thalapathy Vijay’s Sarkar teaser broke the record held by the Avengers for the fastest time in reaching 1 million likes in less than 5 hours.
October 24: Virat Kohli completed the fastest 10,000 ODI runs in cricket.
Also, There were numerous high profile weddings such as Priyanka/NIck and Deepika/Ranveer.
November 2018
12 November BJP leader, Union Minister Ananth Kumar passed away at the age of 59 at a Bengaluru hospital as he was suffering from cancer, despite being treated in New York, and having returned to India only last month. He was among the few leaders to serve under Vajpayee’s government as well, being the “youngest” minister in the cabinet. PM Narendra Modi has extended sympathies to his family by acknowledging Ananth Kumara as the “Great asset to BJP” and the state of Karnataka has announced three-day mourning, showing respect.
December 2018
Rs. 100 coin with Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s portrait to be launched soon and the coin will weigh 35 grams. One side of the coin will have a portrait of Atal Bihari Vajpayee with his name engraved in the Devanagari and in English as well. Also his birth and death year, 1924 and 2018, will be impressed at the bottom of his picture.
So here we are at the end sitting with our families/friends having a great time and waiting for the new year a fresh start. Hope this year brings us everything we want to have, great lessons and all the happiness one deserves.
