Sanjay Dutt’s Projects In Jeopardy As He Takes Medical Break

On August 11, Sanjay Dutt announced on his social media that he would be taking a break from his work commitments to take care of his health. Here’s what he wrote to his fans.

 

Sanjay was admitted to Lilavati Hospital this month due to breathlessness and was discharged on August 10. Nothing official from Dutt’s family, but it is reported the Bollywood actor has been reportedly diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the lung, Stage 3.

Maanayata Dutt, in her statement, said on Wednesday that, “He is a fighter who has emerged as a winner amid all adverse situations,” and urged fans, “not to fall for any speculations or rumors.” She added, “We need all the strength and prayer to overcome this phase, there is a lot that family has been through in the past year, and I am confident enough this shall too pass.”

On August 28, we will see Dutt reprise his role of a taxi driver named Ravi, from the 1991 film Sadak. A sequel to the earlier hit movie Sadak, directed by Mahesh Bhatt, alongside Pooja Bhatt, Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur in lead roles. The film is made on a modest budget of approximately Rs 40 crore and will be streamed on Disney+Hotstar. According to reports, Sanjay will complete the small section of dubbing before flying to the US for his treatment.

 

Speaking about Dutt’s other project, which is to stream on Disney+Hotstar, is ‘Bhuj: The Pride of India.’ This multi-starrer, with Ajay Devgn and Sonakshi Sinha, among other actors, is mounted on a budget of Rs 80 crore; its release date is not announced yet.

 

Meanwhile, Sanjay Dutt had only three days of work left in his Kannada debut KGF Chapter 2, starring Yash. The sequel of KGF: Chapter 1, a hit in the box office, will be released in multiple languages, illustrating a struggle for power between Rocky (Yash) and Adheera (Sanjay). According to the report, the producers have 20 days of shooting left, while they are ready to wait for Dutt to return after three months, to complete the film.

Made on a whopping Rs 150 crore budget, KGF Chapter 2 is directed by Prashant Neel and stars Raveena Tandon in a cameo. On Baba’s 61st birthday this July 29, the makers took to Twitter to unveil Dutt’s first look.

Dutt responded to the first look through the below post in his Instagram account.

Adding to this, Sanjay Dutt also signed for Shamshera, an Indian action-adventure movie alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Vaani Kapoor, produced by Aditya Chopra under Yash Raj Films Banner. The film is written and directed by Karan Malhotra, scheduled to release in theaters on July 31, 2020; its principal photography finished in January. However, due to novel coronavirus, the production was delayed, and the film is postponed.

Eyeing on one of Dutt’s biggest projects is Prithviraj, an Indian historical drama film directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi and produced by Aditya Chopra with a budget of Rs 300 crore under Yash Raj Films banner. The story of Chahamana King Prithviraj Chauhan stars Akshay Kumar as Prithviraj and Manushi Chhillar as his wife in the lead roles. The movie was announced on September 9, 2019, with a motion poster released on social media. It was scheduled to release during the occasion of Diwali 2020, but the film’s production got postponed during March 2020 due to Coronavirus Pandemic in India.

Further, Sanjay Dutt also signed for Torbaaz, an Indian action thriller directed by Girish Malik, where he will be playing the role of an army officer, along with Nargis Fakri and Rahul Dev as co-actors. Shot on a budget of Rs 25 crore, this movie was announced in the second half of September 2016 principal photography commenced in the month of December 2017. The film was shot across different locations worldwide, including Afghanistan, Bishkek, Manali, and Punjab, which was completed in April 2019. There is still not much of an update of this movie regarding its first look or the release.

So, what will happen to all these incomplete projects? More than 700 crore projects are hanging around him as he goes for a break for his treatment. Let us all hope our Munna Bhai comes with a blast like a fighting warrior, which he has done all his life and gives us that ‘Jadu Ki Jhappi’ by his screen presence and real personality.
