Amidst the unexplored beauty of Jharkhand, the cry of revolution against the landlords first echoed. ‘Ulgulan’ refers to one of the lesser-known fights against British rule – that of the tribal uprisings which constituted an important part of the defiance of the colonial regime. The movement of Ulgulan was sought to establish the right of the indigenous people over their resources which were being snatched away from them by the colonial rulers. Paying tribute to the unsung warriors of the revolution, and taking inspiration from the historic uprising, students of National University of Study and Research in Law, Ranchi are bringing to us Ulgulan, a national level fest, that, with its motto “Revive. Relive. Revolutionize.”, explores and commends the literary, cultural and sports talent of the country.
NUSRL is one the few premier institutions for legal education in India. Set amidst the virid valleys and crisp skies of Ranchi, NUSRL is taking leaps forward not only in the legal arena but also in various co-curricular activities. Ulgulan 2016, in partnership with NewsAurChai, is another one of NUSRL’s undaunted strides.
Ulgulan is a three-day fest that is to take place from 21st to 23rd of October, 2016. It is a festival of sports, literature, and culture. Team Ulgulan is inviting applications from all over the nation for a wide and varied range of competitions.
So, get up and gear up, explore that talent within yourself. Ulgulan has it all! Is there a movie maker somewhere inside you? If yes, you can sign up for the movie making competition. You can show off those moves of yours through the dance competition. And if you have that mesmerizing voice everyone envies, or maybe a band that makes the audience groove, Ulgulan is the place for you. To bring out the hidden writer and poet within you, have a look at their story and poetry writing competitions. Or maybe, showcase your academic acumen in the parliamentary debate or essay writing competitions. If you are a sportsperson, do not fail to register and showcase your knack in your area of proficiency, be it throwball, carom, chess, athletics, cricket, football, badminton, table tennis or basketball.
