MUMBAI: Mahalaxmi Sports ground witnessed a grand opening ceremony of the 67th men and 6th women all India Railway weightlifting championship 2019-20 on Tuesday.
Weightlifting, as you all know, is an athletic discipline in the modern Olympic program in which the athletes attempt a maximum weight single lift of a barbell loaded with weight plates.
In a country like India where people follow cricket as a religion, Olympic level sports are given lesser importance but continuing the tradition Western Railways Sports Association organised 67th Men and 6th Women All India Railway Weightlifting Championship 2019-20 in Mumbai.
The event was inaugurated by Additional General Manager Western Railway Shri V K Tripathi, Indian Weightlifting Federation General Secretary Shri Sahdev Yadav, Indian Railway coach cum Vice President of Indian Weightlifting Federation Shri Sunil Kumar, Dronacharya awardee & Indian coach Shri Vijay Sharma and Indian Olympian and Indian Railway & Western Railway Coach Mr P. Rangaswamy.
The event is scheduled for 4 days starting from 19th November 2019 to 22nd November 2019, which will be held at Mahalaxmi Sports Ground, Mumbai
