Amidst the bustling lanes of the Satyaniketan market lies a small and inconspicuous café: ECHOES – Eat Engage Energize. From outside it looks like any other eatery in the area. But what sets Echoes apart from the rest of the cafes, is their fascinating and unique concept; the café is managed by differently-able staff who are highly courteous.
Echoes is an initiative of five friends trying to blend the concept of ‘motivation’ and CSR activity with the service industry. ‘Listen with your eyes, talk with your hands ’ is the mantra for everyone in the café. It has a specially designed menu with unique codes for over 150 dishes. The customers are given a menu, notepad, and pen for ordering and the servers are ushered using a switch present at every table, which lights up a bulb at the counter alerting the servers. Cue cards reading ‘Water Please’, ‘Bill Please’, ‘Thank You’ and ‘Call the Manager’ are present at every table making communication more efficient.
The ambience of the place is vibrant and cozy with the entire sign language spelt out clearly on the brick-textured café wall.
Since the café is frequented by students, Echoes serve pocket-friendly and mouth-watering dishes that includes Schezwan Pasta, Cheese Nachos Appetizing burgers, Waffles, Pizza Cones, to name a few.
