Raees, the much-awaited Shahrukh Khan starrer had been making news even before it was released. From foot-tapping music, power-packed performances, and hard-hitting dialogues, Raees has all the elements of a successful earning Bollywood masala flick.
The Rahul Dholakia directorial has crossed the 100 crore mark on its 6th day of release and has also broken the ‘January Jinx’ in Bollywood, the superstitious belief that movies released in the first month do not do good business. The movie faced a box office clash with Hrithik Roshan starrer – Kaabil releasing on the same day and has emerged as a clear winner in terms of its collection, in both overseas and domestic markets. Its total domestic collection stands at Rs 100.74 crore, according to trade analyst Ramesh Bala. While Kaabil has total collections of Rs 79.60 crore.
Raees is also Shahrukh Khan’s 7th film in the 100 crore club and has brought him back as the angry young man on celluloid after more than two decades. He had previously played negative roles in films like Don, Anjaam, and Baazigar.
With no Hindi movies releasing in the 4th-5th February weekend, both Raees and Kaabil are expected to further see a hike in their earnings.
Raees, directed by Rahul Dholakia and produced by Excel Entertainment in association with SRK’s Red Chillies, also features Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Mahira Khan in key roles.
