The German automobile giant Audi has launched Q7 petrol version in India under the ‘Audi Reloaded’ initiative. Audi Q7 is priced at Rs 67.76 lakh which is slightly below its diesel variant. The sudden shift to add petrol mix in their variants come after Supreme Court’s decision to ban diesel vehicles over 2000cc in Delhi and NCR last year. Audi Q7 is the first luxury SUV (petrol) from the company in India but will face competition from BMW X5 xDrive35i, Mercedes-Benz GLS400, Land Rover Discovery HSE luxury, as well as Range Rover Velar soon to be launched in petrol variant.
The Petrol variant is quite similar to its diesel variant in terms of looks. It has the signature single frame grille with a Matrix LED headlights. Along with aluminum finished 5-spoke alloy wheels, LED tail lights and twin exhaust.
Under the hood there is a powerful 2-litre four-cylinder, TFSI engine tuned to produce 250bhp and 370Nm of peak torque in the base model. In higher price bracket you can get 329bhp and 440Nm of peak torque. In both models, there is 8-speed automatic transmission that will be sending power to all four wheels via the Quattro AWD system. Audi claims a lightning-fast power redistribution which helps Q7 to clock 233kmph top speed, also to accelerate 0-100kmph in 6.9 seconds.
The major change from its predecessor is that it’s 325kg lighter and offers better agility as well. Also, it will return slightly better fuel efficiency than its predecessor. This is future ready with virtual cockpit instrument console, Audi MMI infotainment system, as well as the multi-zone climate control. Also, it offers Apple Carplay and Android Auto with the Q7, along with the Bose audio system.
In terms of safety, it comes loaded with a host of electronic aids including 8 airbags, ABS, ASR, EDL, ESC, Hill Descent, four-zone climate control, cruise control, auto park assistant.
