The war of words between Actress Kangana Ranaut and Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has hit a new low. In a series of tweets the actress today hit out at the Chief Minister for his veiled strike during an address at a political rally.
Although CM didn’t particularly name the actress the during his Dussehra speech on Sunday, people started connecting the dots when he said “Someone said Mumbai is like Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK)… they come to Mumbai for work and then defame the city. This amounts to namak harami.”
He said some people come to Mumbai for bread and butter and abuse the city by calling it PoK.
Mr Uddav further remarked that: “Mumbai is PoK, there are drug addicts everywhere – they are painting such a picture. They don’t know in our house we grow tulsi, not ganja (marijuana). Ganja fields are in your state, you know where, not in our Maharashtra.”
This statement was seen as a direct blow against the state of Himachal Pradesh, though he didn’t specifically mention any.

In response, Kangana Ranaut called the Chief Minister the “worse product” of nepotism.
She further said “(Sanjay) Raut called me Haramkhor now Uddhav (Thackeray) called me namak-haram (treacherous). Referring to CM’s speech she said: “he is claiming I won’t get food in my state if Mumbai does not give me shelter, shame on you I am your son’s son’s age this is how you speak to a self-made single woman, Chief Minister you are the worse product of nepotism.”

Kangana, who is known for not taking the jibe lying down hit back at the CM by calling his speech an act of ‘open bullying’. She took to her Twitter and wrote: “Chief Minister you are a very petty person, Himachal is called Dev Bhumi with the maximum number of temples also with zero crime, and because of its high-yielding land it grows apples, kiwis, pomegranate, strawberries one can grow anything here.”

She further slashed the CM by saying he is using his power to insult, damage and humiliate people who disagree with him and should be ashamed of himself for indulging in petty fights. “You don’t deserve the chair you have obtained by playing dirty politics. SHAME,” she added.

The actress wrote that she is overwhelmed at this open bullying by a working CM, a public servant. Stating both Himalayas and Mumbai as her home, she called out to CM for diving the country. “Uddhav Thackeray don’t you dare to snatch our democratic rights and divide us, your filthy speeches are a vulgar display of your incompetence,” she wrote.
Again charging at the CM, she said, “He is just a public servant” there were predecessor to him soon there will be successors who will serve the state, why is he behaving like he owns Maharashtra?”

Hitting back against the CM further the actress wrote, she is not drunk on her father’s power and wealth, “If I wanted to be a nepotism product I could have stayed back in Himachal, I hail from a renowned family, I didn’t want to live off on their wealth and favours, some people have self-respect and self-worth,” she wrote.
The Shiv Sena-led coalition Government has been at the receiving end, when the 33-year-old outspoken actress criticized Maharashtra government and Mumbai police for mishandling the case of the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput since June this year.
While Mumbai Police termed it a suicide case, Sushant’s family filed a lawsuit against Rhea Chakraborty, his former living partner alleging promoting to suicide, cheating and theft. The three probe agencies Central Bureau of Investigation, the Enforcement Directorate and the Narcotics Control Bureau, are now investigating the case.
The wrath of Shiv Sena reached its peak when Kangana compared Mumbai as PoK, to which a demolition team of Mumbai civic body started pulling down what it called illegal parts of Kangana Ranaut’s office in Mumbai.
The Tweet series received varying response from the public as some tried to correct comment about “zero crime” in Himachal Pradesh, and criticising her for her outspoken nature, while others supported her for pointing out the wrongdoing of Shiv Sena coalition Government and Uddhav Thackeray.
