“I want to make it clear once and for all that NDA will contest the next Assembly election in Bihar under Nitish Kumar…Lalu’s dream to become Chief Minister again will not be fulfilled”, said Union Minister Amit Shah, when he was addressing a public meet on CAA under the Jan Jagran Abhiyan which is a programme aimed to reach out to the public in Pune, January 16, 2020.
“We took Bihar from lantern age to LED age, from loot to law and order, fodder scam to the protection of cows and from jungle raj to Janata raj”, he said. He also said that the bond between JDU and BJP was “unbreakable.”
The BJP chief stated that “the process of construction of a Ram temple will begin in Ayodhya within four months”. Moreover, he listed the various achievement such as abrogation of Article 370, 35 (A) and surgical strikes in Pakistan.
He further asked party leaders and workers to undertake a door-to-door campaign in the State and explain to people about the new citizenship law and how the Opposition has been spreading rumours over it.
Answering to the spur of rumours regarding the breakage of the JDU-BJP alliance in Bihar, and pinpointing at the Lalu (RJD)’s long wish of straining the relationship that is shared between the two parties, Amit Shah stated affirmatively that Nitish Kumar shall lead NDA in Bihar.
This was the first public addressing by Amit Shah after taking charge as the Union Minister. Bihar is expected to have assembly polls in October and November this year.
Nitish Kumar had recently said that NRC should not be implemented in Bihar, and called it “un-justified” in Bihar or anywhere else. This clearly is something that wouldn’t have been appreciated by the single largest political party in India, but seeing the current scenario, the BJP needs JDU more than the JDU needs the BJP.
Amit Ji should focus on convincing Mr Nitish to walk on the common path as that of the BJP before harvesting the seeds of a coalition.
The recent trend of BJP losing elections might hamper its relationships with parties who had solely tied hands to win elections even when they had quite distinct manifestos.
