Are Biopic Films Made Just To Mint Money??

Whether it be the recently trending ‘Sachin: a million dreams’ or the bumper hit ‘M S Dhoni: the untold story ‘ and from ‘Mary Kom’ to ‘ Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ all have done brilliantly on box offices and the hearts of people alike.

They have not only set a benchmark in their category but also gave their best when it came to entertainment. The directors of these super hit biopics have actually acquired fame by their biopic ventures only and frankly deny any allegations of money making strategy when they are asked about the movie’s success. But thinking practically these biopics are not a mere business but a lot more, they are an entertainment embedded source of information.

Gone are the days when people utilised their leisure time by listening to radio or drowning in magazines to know about their favourite celebrities, today too the thirst to know about our favourite celebrities had not ceased but yes today with rush everywhere there is no time for people to read. They find it easy to hear news while they are on with their basics of the day or while driving to their workplace. Yes definitely the books and their breadth promise of more intricate details about the person we want to know, but the one on the big picture garnished with pinch of entertainment at the cost of a little manipulation with the originality is far more admired by the people.

We should see what we get to know, Rekha’s biography or Yuvraj Singh’s struggle both are welcomed by the people alike and they are loved drastically but honestly a little less than the visual media. We must also not deny that the things that we see are easily recalled than the ones read. The growing craze of films and YouTube is left with nothing to prove more. Also the little information we get in the form of movies not only brings us closer to the people we read about in newspapers but also we respect their struggle after we see it , thanks to the great actors (Farhan Akhtar, Priyanka Chopra, Sushant Singh Rajput, etc) who make it so easy for us to connect to these famous personalities with their work. Even if people cannot read or google about certain things readily the information about M S Dhoni given through the movie doesn’t go in vain.

Sincere thanks to these great directors like Om Prakash Mehra and Ashutosh Gowarikar and recently Sanjay Leela Bhansali for giving bollywood great movies like Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Bajirao Mastani and Jodha Akbar which have succeeded in connecting us not only with the scenes but the actors too.

Thus accusing these directors of money making is bad for the challenge they have accepted and finished so miraculously .They deserve a hats off and such statements of their being good businessman is partially acceptable as they came out with flying colours. We should definitely encourage such biopics and appreciate the actors and directors who help it to relate to the history and the great sportsmen .
