KJSCE Skream 2017

KJSCE Skream is a National Level Sports Festival presented by Canara Bank, co-sponsored by Stag and Tennex, and is in association with Fisto. It started off 3 years ago with the sole purpose of putting passion and spirit of sports on the platform it deserves. This year will be the fourth edition of the four-day sporting extravaganza. Hosting a varied set of events, colossal crowd, and eminent personalities, Skream 2017 has a plethora of new competitive opportunities in store to showcase your talent in various sports at the state of art sporting facilities provided by the college.

Skream 2017 Will be held from 5th-8th Jan, 2017. It will feature 13 different sports viz. Football, Cricket, Basketball, Tennis Table, Tennis, Carrom, Chess, Box-Cricket, Athletics, Rink Football, Badminton, Squash and Volleyball. Alongside these, Skream will also host events like Pickle-ball, Sony Play Station Arena, Open Air TT Tournament, Football Fan Club Matches(Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham) and WBFI exhibition match.

Skream 2017 will have a contingency system this year too. It has proved to be one of the main reasons for the increase in the participation of contingent teams from all over India.

Poonam Chopra, Former Judoka Player and First Woman Arjuna Awardee. and Ashish K. Srivastava, Captain of the Indian Paralympic Cricket Team will grace the opening ceremony of Skream 2017.

Former Badminton World No. 10 and Arjuna Awardee Chetan Anand will be present during the Closing Ceremony.

Apart from the sporting aspect of the event, what sets Skream 2017 apart from any other sporting event across the country is the amazing hospitality of the Organising Committee for a large number of contingents participating from outstation and otherwise. The event will have various cultural performances and social mixer Sessions to provide the sportspersons an opportunity to get to know each other and establish a general atmosphere of bonhomie among the players.

Skream 2016 hosted teams from Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Goa, Jaipur and Uttar Pradesh. There were around 40+ colleges participating in all its events. Skream saw a footfall of about 6000+ people over the festival period of 4 days.

Ms. Manasi Joshi, an alumnus of KJSCE and a Silver Medallist in Badminton at the Paralympics World Championship 2012 graced the event with her presence. A Mallakhamb performance by Mallakhamb INDIA enthralled everyone at the opening ceremony of Skream 2016. Former Indian test cricketer Balwinder Singh Sandhu and former National Women’s Hockey Coach Mir Ranjan Negi were also present to motivate the participating players from all contingent.

Set in the heart of the city, K. J. Somaiya College of Engineering is located in the Somaiya Campus at Vidyavihar. Catering to about 40,000 students every day, this campus offers diverse fields of education such as Engineering, Management, Commerce, Arts and Sciences. Along with numerous institutes, Somaiya Vidyavihar also boasts of a campus covering 65 acres.

The campus consists of an Olympic Certified Football Ground which has had players from the Mumbai FC, ISL team practicing here. It also has an Olympic Certified Athletic Track which is setup for all the athletic events with a synthetic volleyball court beside it. Somaiya Campus also has a full-size basketball court along with a fully renovated lawn tennis court. It also has newly re-designed synthetic badminton court, a full-size cricket ground, a squash court and a tennis room. Somaiya Vidyavihar acts as the ideal center to promote the spirit of all sports amongst the students alongside their ongoing educational courses.
