“Govinda, govinda, govinda, govinda, govinda…..govinda” Yes, you heard it right. Ram Gopal Varma is back with his third instalment of “Sarkar” franchise. In addition, bigger than it has even been. Revenge, suspense, thriller, high-pack action drama and betrayal, might be the word which perfectly describes the tone of the movie. Amitabh Bachchan is again playing the dominating protagonist role of “Subhash Nagre” followed by Ronit Roy, Jackie Shroff, Manoj Vajpayee, Amit shah and Yami Gautam. Amit Sadh, Yami Gautam and Jackie Shroff are the new additions to the film’s cast. The trailer seems to be eye grabbing. Dialogues in the movie are par average. Yami on the other side stands out in a more pivotal role.
The story follows Subhash Nagre after the tragic death of both his sons Shankar (Amitabh Bachchan) and Vishnu (K.K Menon). Annu Karkare (Yami Gautam) conspire and attempt to avenge the death of her father, for which she blames “Sarkar”. Dealing with the situation turns out Sarkar’s own battle with his violent grandson Shivaji Nagre aka “Cheeku” (Amit Sadh). Sarkar possesses threats from both political and corporate diaspora. Assisted by his side Gokul Satam (Ronit Roy), Sarkar deals with Michael Valya (Jackie Shroff) and seemingly violent moody politician Govind Deshpande (Manoj Bajpayee) in a vigorous dramatic computational battle.
Ram Gopal Verma earlier stated that he had no plans finalised for the third instalment in the series and shelved “Sarkar 3”. However, in 2012 it was reported that the sequel would go ahead once again and currently is in the pre-production stage where the script is being written. The film is expected to go on floors at the end of 2013, primarily with the same cast of Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan although his character dies at the end of this film and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is to be left out. In August 2016 director Ram Gopal Verma confirmed Sarkar 3. He told on his Twitter that Abhishek and Aishwarya would not be a part of the third instalment.
Yami Gautam seems excited after getting such a rebellious role in the movie. On been asked how you feel to be part of such a successful franchise, to which she responded, “With utmost humility and gratitude, I don’t have the capacity to ‘choose’ this film. When I saw the first two films, I did not think I could be a part of this universe with Mr. Bachchan. I am very grateful to Ramu sir and Amit sir.”
The cinematography by Amol Rathod looks exceptional breath-taking in the trailer. Ravi Shankar will be the leading composer for the movie. The movie is due for its release on 12th of May 2017. Overall, the trailer looks awesome and one can hope for the best opening in its genre.
