Modi Sarkar’s ‘Beti Padhao Beti Bachao Yojana’

Women empowerment refers to the creation of an environment for women where they can make decisions of their own for their personal benefits as well as for the society. According to the provisions of the constitution of India, it is a legal point to grant equality to women in the society in all spheres just like men. Women and children constitute around 70% of India’s people and are the critical foundation for national development at present and in the future. More inclusive growth must begin with children and women breaking the cycle of integrity and multiple downfalls faced by the women and girls. Like gender discrimination,  inequality, malnutrition, rapes, poverty and more!

The government’s ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ (Child and Women Empowerment) campaign is a way towards women empowerment. It aims to generate awareness and improving the efficiency of welfare services meant for women. The scheme was initiated with an initial corpus of Rs. 100 crores. Also, 33% of Reservation in the police force has been approved by the Union Cabinet on 20th March 2015 of all seven Union territories including Delhi Police. It is a radical an ambitious move. It holds the promise of addressing the issue of gender insensitivity in the police force. Modi government also have the aim to build 10 crore toilets before 2019. Till now 31.83 lakh toilets have been built between April 2014 and January 2015, which is 25.4% of the target for 2014-15 this making of toilets could reduce the rape rates of women.

Modi government has also decided to build 600 rape crisis centers out of which only 36 will be build. One of the most important Modi Cabinet approves amendments to Juvenile Justice Act. So these are some of the steps that Modi government has taken towards women empowerment.
