“Dear Maya”- Manisha Koirala is back in Pristine Avatar

The Trailer for the movie “Dear Maya” is out; Manisha Koirala is all set to play her second innings in Bollywood with Sunaina Bhatnagar’s “Dear Maya”. A new generation director, Sunaina has assisted Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali on Jab We Met, Love Aaj Kal, and Rockstar. The film portrays Manisha in the protagonist role and the story revolves around her character name “Maya Devi”- a lonely middle-aged woman.

The story is about two teenage girl Ira and Anna, the two best friends living in Shimla. An old, abandoned Bungalow near their house intrigues them as Maya Devi (Manisha) who lives in the bungalow and has not stepped out for 20 years. As the story progresses, girls discover that when Maya was of marriageable age, there were several admirers but no one agreed to marry her and that made her bitter, angry and retreat from the world.

The duo gets deeply affected by Maya’s story and decide to write fake love letters to Maya Devi, pretending to be one of the suitors who she met 20 years ago. Transformed by the letter, Maya decides to sell everything and move to Delhi to meet her mystery lover. When Ana came to know whereabouts of Maya, she gets horrified and urges Ira to confess everything to Maya, but she spurns. The story revolves around different shades of life and it will be interesting to know, will Maya Devi be able to make an impact on minds of people.

The trailer gives a very dramatic experience; however, it received a very heart-warming response from the viewers. Since the main plot of the film is already out, it will be interesting to see, does it has anything for movie buffs. This will the first movie after she recovered from cancer. Starring Manisha Koirala, Mahida Imam, Shreya Chaudhry, Rohit Saraf, Irawati Harshe and Sahil Shroff, the film is set to hit theatres on June 2. Manisha will also be seen in Rajkumar Hirani’s biopic on Sanjay Dutt.
