Aamir Khan Attends Award Show After 16 Years
Our legend got the award for playing the role of the wrestling legend Mahavir Phogat. This is surely a mere happy sight but the most astounding one is still left to be disclosed.
It is no news that Bollywood actor and perfectionist, Aamir Khan doesn’t believe in the concept of award nights that mostly flag favouritism high, up in the air! And going by recent events that found places in the news and headlines, there seemed no chances of reconsideration. Up until now, and on one exception!
Yes! Bollywood star Aamir Khan broke his record of not being part of any awards functions for 16 years when he attended the Master Dinananth Mangeshkar Awards ceremony in Mumbai on Monday. Aamir who had refrained himself from attending award shows had to break this clause of his, on the iconic singer Lata Mangeshkar Ji’s request.
He last attended an award show 16 years ago at the Academy Awards when ‘Lagaan’ was nominated in the Best Film category.
Speaking of the event, Bhagwat, who was the chief guest at the event, said the award winners are a source of inspiration and their good work in respective fields will help in nation building. Aamir was selected for the recognition for the success of his film Dangal, one of the biggest hits of 2016. “It’s a very big honour for me and Nitesh. I thank Didi and everyone from the bottom of my heart for the respect that this film has been given,” Aamir said and added, “This has only been possible because of the wonderful story that Nitesh has written. I would also like to say that whatever I am today, the whole credit goes to all the writers whose films I have worked in.”
There is no denying the fact that actor Aamir Khan has shown huge versatility when it comes to the characters he has chosen to play on the big screen. From Raj (Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak) to Mahavir Singh Phogat (Dangal), he has always won laurels.
Not just for an award function, the ‘PK’ star was invited by Lata Mangeshkar to attend the Master Dinanath Mangeshkar Awards, held to commemorate her father’s 75th death anniversary and it was also when the legendary singer started singing in films.
Congratulations, Aamir Sir. We cannot think of anyone more deserving!
