Team RETAKE’S Day Out At Sion Koliwada Municipal School
BMM students from L. S. Raheja College of Arts & Commerce visited Sion Koliwada Municipal School to celebrate Makarsankranti with school’s special children on Friday, 12th January 2018. This Institutional Social Responsibility initiative was a part of the college’s BMM Department’s Annual Festival ‘Retake’.
On 12th January 2018, a day before the Makarsankranti weekend, students visited the school campus at 12:30 PM with bags full of Til-Gud sweets and gifts. On the same day, the school was also running a campaign to save and educate the girl child. The team received a warm welcome from the staff of the school on their arrival and it hardly took them any time to bond with the children.
Students from the college and school spent a quality time together by drawing and coloring their favorite cartoon characters. School children danced and pulled in the college students with them as they happily swayed on the tunes of peppy Bollywood numbers. Raheja College’s students distributed color books, stationery and a wide variety of sweets amongst the school children.
The school children were very excited about the visit and clicked a number of selfies and photographs with the Raheja college students. Cheers and happiness were suspended in the air throughout making it a very joyous occasion. Team Retake interacted with the students, teachers and the principal of the school to enhance their experience during the visit.
L. S. Raheja College’s students visited the school campus to share the sweetness of the festival but as the day approached its end, they received more than they offered. The charming personalities of the children that motivated them to smile despite the atrocities that life threw at them changed the perspective of Raheja college’s students to look at life. Raheja College’s students finally bid a tearful adieu to the school children promising them to come back again.
“We are very grateful to the authorities of Sion Koliwada Municipal School to grant us the permissions to visit their premises. Today we made memories that will last us for a lifetime. Our team wanted to spend more time with the children but time limitations didn’t permit us. But we shall come back soon.” said Faizan Mansuri, the Chairperson of Retake.
Retake is an annual BMM festival of L. S. Raheja College of Arts and Commerce. It is an initiative which aims at providing an equal chance to each and every media student to showcase their talent in various fields and also to nurture them.
