The Nawab of Bollywood Saif Ali Khan is back with another experimented role added to his career graph. He will be seen in a humorous avatar in Akshat Verma’s black comedy Kaalakaandi. Along with him, the crazy cast of Kaalakaandi which includes Deepak Dobriyal, Kunal Roy Kapur, Sobhita Dhulipala and director Akshat Verma were in Delhi doing promotions for the same. While interacting with media at a press conference held in The Imperial Hotel at Janpath, the entire team shared their experiences.
Excerpts from the press conference as addressed by Saif Ali Khan:
1. In what zone Kaalakaandi is:
Kaalakaandi is funny an engaging movie. This is a story of one night and different people. My character in the film holds the trauma of a cancer patient who needs a change in his life. This movie narrates how everyone faces changes in their life by one night. Well, yes it’s a very sweet movie. To portray a sensitive issue in terms of laughter is a big thing. It’s quite a crazy film with lots of action and drama. Yesterday only we saw the entire film, it made us laugh and cry. And I am sure you guys will like this film.
2. On his choice of dark humour film:
I just liked the story. The stories are well connected as there are many stories that happen in one night. It’s kind of experimentation too. It is not necessary that we only have to make a certain kind of movie. There are lots of different kinds of movies being made. It’s about a guy who has never done anything wrong in his life and then one night he goes a little crazy. Apart from dark comedy, I liked the character very much. It was challenging.
3. On public reviews:
Public reviews matter, a lot. I have got mixed reviews in my entire career. I try to understand the bad reviews and learn from them.
4. On censorship of this film:
There are few abusive dialogues in this film, so it truly deserves an A certificate, and yes it’s not for kids obviously. I think it deserves double A. The FCAT have seen this film and declared it an honest film and they passed it. There’s process to everything and I am not affected by it.
A thrilling dark comedy written and directed by Akshat Verma and produced by Cinestaan Film Company and Flying Unicorn Entertainment, Kaalakaandi is scheduled to release this week on 12 January 2018.
