Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaitley unveiled a pro-poor Union Budget today on 29th of February 2016, announcing new rural aid schemes and skimping on a bank bailout. Presenting his third budget, Jaitley said that the government wanted to spread the benefits of growth more widely among India’s 1.3 billion people but gave an assurance that it could do so without increasing borrowing.
While cigarettes, cars, branded garments, air travel will become more costly, while solar lamps, footwear and routers are kept to be cheaper following a host of changes in the tax structure in the Budget for 2016-17.
