As the CBSE 12th board exams 2021 have been cancelled, there is speculation that CBSE might go with grades instead of marks this year. Parents are saying that there can be ambiguity for admission in universities if students are graded. On June 17, 2021, CBSE has submitted the CBSE 12th 2021 evaluation criteria to the Supreme Court. According to the new Evaluation Criteria, marks will be distributed in a 40:30:30 ratio. The result for the examination will be declared based on the new evaluation criteria.
What is the New Evaluation Criteria?
Central Government declared a hold on the examination process for CBSE class 12 due to the ongoing pandemic. The Board has appointed a 13- member team to affix “a well-defined objective criteria” to evaluate CBSE class 12 examination results. CBSE submitted the 40:30:30 formula to evaluate marks to the Supreme Court, which has received a green signal.
As per the new evaluation criteria, the CBSE class 12 will be declared based on marks scored during class 10, class 11 and class 12 theory exams and the marks scored during practical exams. According to this formula, 40 per cent of marks will be calculated based on marks received in theory subject in pre-boards or mid-term exams held by their schools.
30 per cent will be computed from class 11 final exam marks, 30 per cent will be calculated from class 10 board exam results. The calculated percentages will be added to the actual marks for class 12 internal assessment and practicals conducted for the subject.
What if a student will not pass through this tabulation?
Students who will fail in one subject will be placed in the ‘compartment category’, and their exams will be conducted once the results are declared. Students who will fail in more than one subject will be placed in the ‘essential repeat’ category. Students who are unsatisfied with this evaluation criterion or the marks received under this policy will appear for the Board’s written examination once the situation is under control. The marks of the latest exam will be considered as the final marks.
Education Minister of India, Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, has welcomed the Supreme Court’s order of new evaluation criteria for CBSE Class 12 results. He thanked the court for the policy and procedure followed by CBSE for evaluating the results.
CBSE Class 12 Results:
Internal and practical marks will be evaluated by schools and send to CBSE. Schools will have to finalise the results and upload marks on the Board’s link by July 15, 2021. After receiving marks from schools, CBSE will likely declare the result by July 31, 2021.
