The 23-time Grand Slam winner Serena Jameka Williams gave birth to a baby girl on Friday.
Williams who is engaged to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian received an avalanche of congratulations from well-wishers.The couple were yet to confirm the birth themselves but then Serena’s coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, tweeted: “I am so happy for you and I feel your emotion.Btw … I wish you a speedy recovery… we have a lot of work ahead of us. Hope she doesn’t play tennis. “
According to the press reports Serene accidentally announced her pregnancy news via snapchat shot in April itself quoting ’22 weeks’.
US tennis legend Chris Evert tweeted amidst, “I’m so thrilled for her. And what a role model she’s going to be for her daughter.”
Indeed what would be more courageous than to win a Grand slam while in the early stages of your pregnancy? The world’s highest-paid female athlete, Williams begged her 23rd Grand Slam title leaving behind her older sister Venus Williams in Australian Open in January.
Serena in an interview with Vogue this August confirms to return in Melbourne for 2018 Australian Open.
“Obviously, I’m super excited,” Venus Williams, told ESPN just before her match at the US Open on Friday afternoon. “Words can’t describe.”
While she was pregnant Williams posed for a number of magnanimous photo shoots, showing off her incredible baby bump be it for Vanity fair or Vogue.
