The Grammy award winner and Global Pop Sensation “Justin Bieber” is performing in India as the part of his Purpose World Tour. Yes, the wait is finally over and the news is absolutely true. All the Justin Bieber fans out there in India can now see him perform live in Mumbai at DY Patil Stadium on May 10.
It is also rumoured that the renowned Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha is performing one of the opening acts at the highly anticipated gig. She has also performed live at Global Citizen India Festival last year. A great news for Sonakshi’s fans but it seems that the news did not go down well with prominent Bollywood singer Kailash Kher who reacted in an interview saying:
“I read somewhere that a Canadian singer Justin Bieber is coming to India, and actress Sonakshi will perform at the gig. It doesn’t give a good message internationally as they will think that Sonakshi must be a singer in India”. Further, he also added: “Whenever any singer from the West comes to India, we get an actor on board to match their level. We don’t get singer for another singer, but actor… Event managers and producers of the entertainment industry are so scared.”
A young Bollywood singer Armaan Malik also voiced his opinion and agreed with Kailash Kher tweeting: “Actors are actors & singers are singers. Leave the stage & mic to us, that’s our playground, not yours.”
Sonakshi also did not hold back: “A secure artist would always encourage another artist to grow their skills and follow their dreams. Art is any form should not be suppressed.”
The verbal spat did not stop there and Armaan Malik in a very polite and witty manner tweeted back: “I agree with u Sonakshi… but I voiced what I felt about how singers are shunned in our country & given lesser importance than actors!!”
Seems like singers have been offended and can’t withstand their platform being taken away gradually by the actors and actresses. However, it has now been confirmed that Sonakshi is not performing at the gig. Sonakshi has shut the rumours and tweeted recently regarding the same:
“Firstly, I am not performing at the Bieber concert. It was speculated because I was approached and carried forward by publications and portals even after I stated in various interviews that it’s not happening. Secondly, I’m an actor who loves music, who loves to perform and who loves to sing. And if anyone has a problem with that, in the wise words of baba Bieber himself… they can go “love” themselves. Over and out. ”
Well is was quite a banter between the actress and the singers. Nonetheless, the gig is going to be huge with the hits of Justin Bieber and all the pop music lovers are fervently waiting for it.
