Welcome to BHIM 2.0

As to promote one of the significant achievement of PM modi government, Digital India, Bhim App was launched in the year 2016. The app brought about a marking revolution by leading people on the digital payment platform. The app has already striking features but an addition to that the government promoted it more by upgrading the app to a new version called BHIM 2.0

The Ministery of Information and technology on Monday unveiled the new version by showcasing the initiatives and programmes, included in BHIM 2.0. It packs-in new functionalities, supports additional languages and has improved transaction limits as well. Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad also introduced a StartUp Hub portal and Indian Software Product Registry at IT Ministry’s Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) Start-up Summit on Monday. BHIM app, a UPI-based payment interface developed by National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) that enables real-time fund transfer.

“In order to make BHIM app more feature-rich and effective, it has been enhanced with a bunch of new functionalities. Some of the striking features marking BHIM 2.0 include a ‘Donation’ gateway, increased transaction limits for high-value transactions, linking multiple bank accounts, offers from merchants, the option of applying in IPO, gifting money…,” an official release said.

Key features of BHIM 2.0

The new version of BHIM supports three language facilities, additional languages covers – Konkani, Bhojpuri and Haryanvi – over, in extra to the already existing 13 languages. The new version also incorporates a ‘Donation’ gateway, increased transaction limits for high-value transactions, linking multiple bank accounts, offers from merchants, the option of applying in IPO, gifting money options with high ease.

As per the release, the MeitY portal also called as MSH portal brings the onboard key of the tech startup ecosystem with startups, technology incubation centres, Centres of Excellence (CoEs), mentors, VCs and angels altogether. It is also mandated to incorporate existing programmes and innovation-related activities of the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY).

Now what to look forward is whether this new version of Modi digital app will bring to the pocket of digital India and as well to the BJP government seats.
