Yogi Adityanath – Vocal, But A Hard-working CM

Yogi Adityanath continues to remain in the heart of the citizens of Uttar Pradesh for more than two and a half years. Being the 22nd Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, he has managed to pull out some changes in the State as well as stirred some controversies too. Even though BJP has many controversies around it, Yogi Adityanath continues to be the main hat trick to bag the votes in UP. In these two years and nine months, he has worked on his schemes, actions plus his visions for Uttar Pradesh that has managed to bring out some visible changes in the State.

Where his promises before elections implemented? What were the schemes that he introduced in UP? Let’s get to know more about his governance.

Works of Yogi Adityanath as CM

The first action of Yogi Adityanath’s Government was the shutdown of the illegal slaughterhouse. A few days after taking in charge he ordered to shut down all illegal slaughterhouse and blanket ban on smuggling of cows. He aimed to shut down the entire unlawful slaughterhouse, but it activated the panic button in the meat business and led to an increase of unemployment in this field. This decision of his made many other states like Bihar, Jharkhand, Maharashtra and other few BJP led states to follow the trend. His second decision was to sweep off the dirt. He directed the officials to maintain the cleanliness of both annex and State to make the change visible. He banned the use of plastic products and pan masala in office premises. Prime Minister’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan inspired his decision.

His next mission was a step to ‘protect the honour of the women’ which did receive a polarised view from citizens. He directed state police to form ‘Anti-Romeo Squad‘ aimed to protect women from eve-teasing in the State. Where 7, 42,000 people were checked by this squad and 1,264 men were given legal warnings. Some of it was not taken well as few cases melded between siblings and couples.

Unfair means during the examination was taken entirely off. CCTV cameras were installed to monitor the examinations and cheating was not at all entertained. Due to this, more than five lakh students skipped exams. His government also focuses on modernising the examination process where the digital evaluation will be held to avoid errors. Another significant boost for the education sector was the establishment of 18 ‘Atal residential schools‘ named after former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He focuses on giving free education and encouraging sports too.

His next step was an environmentally friendly action. He directed his ministerial colleagues to avoid sirens and hooters as they add on to noise pollution. However, he allowed the use of red beacons.

During elections, he had promised to transform the land into a field of gold; the results show that he has managed to fulfil this promise to an extent. In the last two and a half years, he waived a loan of Rs 36,000 core to 86 lakh small and marginal farmers. The farm production also reached a record high. Ten lakh farmers were trained in schools and were given awareness of new technologies. He assured the right price for the produce, and the production of Wheat, Sugar Cane and paddy production increased. He also initiated the simultaneous production of ethanol and sugarcane where ethanol will be blended with petrol.

One of Yogi Adityanath main promises was to bring a Government that will have ‘zero tolerance’ towards corruption. He vowed to establish the rule of law and that no rules shall be bend. There have been 3,026 police encounters where 69 criminals were shot down. He said he would adopt strict measures and keep a tight vigil on all ministries and departments. He has warned 400 corrupt officials and decided to give early retirements to 200 employees due to malpractices.

He also decided to cancel arm licenses to the mafia and criminal turned politicians; the list included Mukhtar Ansary, Ateeq Ahmed, Dhananjay Singh, Abhay Singh, and Raja Bhaiya. He also formed an anti-land mafia task force to eradicate encroachment of land completely. Amidst all this Azam Khan was declared land mafia by Yogi Adithyanath’s Government.

Uttar Pradesh did not lack foreign investments too; on the first day of Uttar Pradesh investment summit where 500 companies participated signed 1,045 MoUs that are worth Rs 4.28 lakh crore. He laid a foundation of more than Rs 1.25 trillion for the industrial project and added Rs 65,000 core in December 2019.

The ‘One district one product’ scheme was introduced, wherein Yogi Adityanath encouraged each district to produce one product of its own to contribute to the goal of making the State a USD 1 trillion economy by 2024. This was an aim launched after getting inspiration from the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s goal to reach USD 5 trillion by 2024. After the implementation of this scheme, the revenue of Bhadohi carpet doubled from Rs 4,000 crore to Rs 8,000 core.

Yogi Adityanath strictly implemented various Central schemes, including Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Saubhaghya Yojana, Kisan Insurance. Ration cards were rigorously checked, and 30 lakh fake ration cards were found out. His mission to Build Country’s longest expressway from Lucknow to Ghazipur was initiated. On occasion of World Youth Skills Day, he announced a mission to create 70 lakh jobs for the youth and launched a scheme that offers nutritious breakfast for Rs 3 and lunch of Rs 3 to the economically weak people.

Though Yogi Adityanath has initiated many good activities, he is not free from making controversy every now and then. Starting from his ‘purification drive‘ conducted back in 2005 to convert Christians to Hinduism to his statement about the saint and social worker Mother Teresa (“She was part of the conspiracy to Christianize India. Hindus were converted in the name of doing service and then converted”) to his comment about Bollywood King Khan (I think there is no difference between the language of Shah Rukh Khan and Hafiz Saeed) have made him enter into the front page of newspapers.

Even though he has stirred some controversies, he has proved to be a man of action. Through his schemes, he has managed to pull the right strings of the people of Uttar Pradesh in a way that everyone benefits from it. The latest survey conducted by The India Today, Mood of the Nation (MOTN) poll in January 2020 yet again made Yogi Adityanath as the best performing chief minister for the second time in a row.

So what do you think of Yogi Adityanath vision and actions? Do you think he made a visible change last year? Will Uttar Pradesh be a developed State under him?
