Why So Much Of Hate For The Prime Minister Of India?

The Prime Minister of India, Mr Narendra Modi, is now serving his second consecutive term in the parliament. His journey from being a tea seller to becoming the Chief Minister of Gujarat and then the Prime Minister of India has been dramatically highlighted all through his term. In these few years as the Prime Minister, people have had mixed emotions/approach/opinion towards the policies that have been implemented by him. They complain about the way the economy is functioning and in broader terms towards the person that he is.

While some groups still support him blindly and have voted for him for the second time in a row. We can say that it is because of these people only that he won the 2019 general elections, the other side of the coin is the harsh reality. Though a minority, the people who oppose him also have a strong standing. These include the opposition first of all and then come the other groups of businessmen, traders, real estate agents, and different sections who are highly disappointed.

Reasons for hatred towards Prime Minister

The business houses and real estate groups were profoundly outraged with the demonetisation as well as the implementation of GST. The revamping of the tax structure might have had its own benefits, but the major section was not able to relate to it since there was a complete change in the compliances. It took a lot of time for people to understand the new regime. Moreover, to date, changes are being announced daily. This has hampered the way the businesses were carried out, and a lot of people have even had to close down.

Coming to ordinary people, even they had to suffer a lot with GST and demonetisation. I still remember there were days after the announcement of demonetisation were people couldn’t withdraw money from ATM’s as it did have enough money. It was like life has come to a standstill. Everyone had money in their banks, in their ATM cards, but still, everyone felt the shortage of funds.

Another reason people state is that, since BJP is a Hindu party, it does not want to cooperate with the other sections of society. Every little thing is being blamed associating it with this cause. People say that the cases of mob lynching have increased and the maximum is against the Muslims or the other lower-class Hindu communities, as they call it. They blame the government for not takes any actions, and according to them, cases like this increase only when the people involved have government backing.

Then comes the Beef Ban, though non-Muslim’s also consume beef, it was considered as a decision directed towards the Muslim community. People took it to another level by blaming that Modi and his party do not want other community or religion to be in India. I have heard people commenting that Modi wants all the Muslim’s of India to flee to Pakistan and make India a complete Hindu country. People were saying that food; basically what to eat is a personal choice and government can’t interfere in the same.

There are other reasons also which have now and then led to Modi and his ruling party facing a lot of criticism like the scrapping of Article 370, or the implementation of the new Motor Vehicles Act, the drop of the economy and whatnot. The IL&FS crisis, PNB scam and more are other such cases where the blame has been put on the Prime Minister.

Our PM has faced a lot of blame/complaints along his tenure, and the blame game still continues. Even his travelling abroad to have a meeting with other nations or their national delegates was questioned. People said that he is using his power to tour around the world.

Hatred towards the party and his decision is understandable but calling him ‘Chaiwala’ for the background from which he came up is not right. Even though he still faces such blames, he is striving to move ahead and stick to the decisions he took.

Now is the time to see what the second term of the Prime Minister has in store for the country and whether it will have anything to change people’s opinion.
