Hornbill Festival

Date: December 1-10 every year
The Hornbill festival named after the bird is the most mesmerizing festival which shows how diverse our culture is. Held in a small and remote northeastern state of India, this festival is one of the biggest celebrations of the indigenous warrior tribes of the Kisama Heritage Village (near Kohima town), Nagaland. The celebration features traditional arts, folk dance, music concert and various other performances by the conventional warrior tribes of the state. This festival showcases local heritage, food, culture, handicrafts, handlooms, and games.

Date: December 4-8, 2019
India Craft Week celebrates the country’s handicrafts and artisans, bringing together artisans, designers and brands by craft installations, workshops live demonstrations and discussions. Celebrated in the Aerocity of Delhi, luxury items, ethical and sustainable handmade products are displayed and sold at the festival.

Karthigai Deepam

Karthigai Deepam or the festival of lights is a festival celebrated by Hindus in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh which takes place in a, particularly exciting way in the holy town of Tiruvannamalai. This vibrant festival aims to embrace the positive things and eradicate the negativity & the evils. On the evening of Karthigai day, a massive fire lamp is lit on the top of the hill; temples and households are decorated with diyas. It’s assumed that Lord Shiva appeared as an endless flame of light before Lord Vishnu and Lord Brahma.

Chennai Music Festival (Madras Music Season)

The Chennai Music Festival is one of the most popular and talked about cultural festivals of India. Over 1,000 performances take place in this month-long cultural fiesta, along with music-related seminars, discussions, classical & dance performances, lovely instrumental music, and excellent drama.

Sunburn Festival

Date: December 27-29, 2019
The iconic Sunburn Festival is Asia’s most prominent commercial electronic dance music festival especially seen in Vagator, North Goa. It will be back to Goa this year starring DJ Martin Garrix, The Chainsmokers, DJ FLUME, Jonas Blue, Fedde Le Grand, Julian Jordan, and Lost Frequencies along with a psychedelic stage. Sunburn Campout campsite will be put up to render accommodations and a festival vibe.

Cochin (Kochi) Carnival

Date: Last week of December to January 1 every year
The colourful Cochin Carnival is one of the famous festivals in Kerala which evolved from Portuguese new year festivals held in Cochin during colonial days. Apart from being a traditional cultural event, it’s more about feasting and fun, musical performances, cultural gigs, fireworks and many more. The carnival concludes with the burning of a Santa effigy on New Year’s Eve along with a massive procession on New Year’s Day.

The New Year is welcomed with joy and happiness everywhere in India as people express the cheer for the upcoming new days through extravagant parties, fantastic food, and enthralling performances & shows. Most of the top-listed clubs, pubs, hotels, restaurants, resorts host grand parties, and even house parties are organised to welcome the New Year.
