Bihar Elections 2020: PM Modi Attacks Opposition while praising Nitish Kumar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the crowd during the rally of the 3-phase assembly elections in Bihar, slashed opposition and stated that Bihar needs an NDA government under CM Nitish Kumar for its growth and progress.

PM Modi called the opposition ‘Bimaru’ an acronym for Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, a jab at the ‘poor economic conditions’ of these states. He said the opposition which ruled Bihar once, is looking at the developing state again with greedy eyes and warned the citizens to be alert not be to push towards corruption and settle for a government that came with a history of poor maintenance of law and order in the state.

PM Modi at a rally in Gaya said that the opposition party had formed a ‘pitara’ (box) against the NDA called Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) that allowed Naxal (Maoist) movement in the past. With a lot of efforts and stringent action, Maoist activities in the country have been limited and restricted in the last few years under the NDA Government.

When action is taken on people who break the country, these people go and stand with them, PM Modi stated, adding that the model of these people has been to make Bihar sick and helpless.

He further added that even today, the root cause of several problems in Bihar, is the chaos and misrule of the 90s’ but, however, the state has now, come a long way and is gradually getting reformed.

He also attacked Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), saying before the Nitish Kumar-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Bihar suffered crime and corruption.

While pointing out the development activities in the state, the Prime Minister said that every poor household in Bihar now have electricity connection. In addition to this, construction of roads worth Rs 22,000 crores in villages under PM Sadak Yojana are underway.

He highlighted the development in educational facilities in the state and reiterated the same by saying that from the children in the state dreaming of a small school, the state has now grown to accommodate widespread opening of Engineering Colleges and other educational institutions.

He also looked upon the technological development of the state and how it has empowered the poor people. “NDA government has been working for the poor and downtrodden. The government has extended the reservation for Dalit and OBCs for the next 10 years. Apart from this, economically backward people falling among the upper caste will also get reservation,” he said.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister said that the NDA government gave priority to the poor in the time of coronavirus. “At a place where poor’s ration was looted inside the shops, the NDA government has delivered ration to their homes. Where the money meant for the poor went into corruption, the government was able to organise free food for families in the middle of the pandemic,” he said.

Praising the current Chief Minister for his work in checking the spread of coronavirus in the state, PM Modi said the NDA government under Nitish Kumar in Bihar is necessary to strengthen the resolve of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat.’ He said that Bihar deserves more and people need to choose wisely.

PM Modi at an election rally in Sasaram said all reports and polls predict “Phir ek baar, NDA sarkar in Bihar.”

Targeting the opposition, he referred to criticism faced by the NDA government for abrogating Article 370. “Everyone was waiting for Article 370 to be repealed but these people are saying that they will overturn the decision once they are voted to power,” he said.

He questioned the opposition’s dare to ask for votes from Bihar, after stating that they would bring it back Article 370 if they come to power. “Is this not an insult of Bihar?” he asked.

Nitish Kumar and his Janata Dal-United (JDU) MPs initially opposed Central Governments move on Article 370 in both the houses of the parliament last year. However, surprisingly JDU leaders later supported the decision and said they were unsatisfied as the move was made without consulting them, but as it is now a law.

The controversial abrogation of Article 370 has come up in the Bihar election rally many a time. Last week Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath one of BJP’s campaigners in Bihar said — after the abrogation of Article 370, now people of other states have the chance to own property in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to hold a total of 12 election rallies in Bihar starting today.

Bihar assembly elections will be held in three phases — October 28, November 3, and 7, and the counting of votes will take place on November 10.
